Metakey releases New Ganymede trailer
In one of the more exciting news of last week, Metakey announced its plans to build a new virtual world, New Ganymede. Founded by Matty, Metakey is built on the principles of interoperability with the vision of their assets being integrated across multiple platforms and games.
Their vision of New Ganymede is that of a virtual world that will be connected and interoperable with others, like Decentraland and Sandbox. It’s underpinned by the idea for the New Ganymede Passport, the world’s first interoperable season pass, that will offer rewards across different games in different virtual worlds.
In the announcement, the team also talks about native interoperability for the metakrew, multiplayer PVE ARPG, land and potentially a token. Target launch date for the first open multiplayer demo is somewhere between Q4 2022 and Q1 2023.
Here’s a quick summary from Matty himself.
Mines of Dalarnia Mainnet Launch
Mines of Dalaria officially launched on mainnet on April 26th. The game has a token, $DAR, and is a free-to-play action adventure game. While you can play for free, the team recommends purchasing a Mining Passport to get full access to the game. And, of course, there’s land as well.
As of the next steps, the team is working on a fully fledged marketplace and the mobile version of the game, targeted for Q3 2022. P2E revenue streams are available for mining plot owners as well as the players. both players and mining plot owners. Players can generate income by mining for resources that can be used on power ups, while landowners can rent out their plots to miners.
Not long after the launch, the team had to shut down game servers due to players using bots to cheat as well as modifying the PC client software to gain an unfair advantage. At the time of writing, the servers were still down.
Gala Games announces $4m in GALA rewards in May
In what’s becoming a tradition, Gala Games is running a May campaign with more than $4m in prizes across its ecosystem. For the Town Star game, the team will be running a weekly competition, available to all players, with a total prize pool of $2m in GALA tokens. There’s also a referral competition for both Town Star and Spider Tanks, with the latter having a $500k prize purse. And, finally, there will be $250k rewards given out during weekly tournaments for Spider Tanks. This all adds up to $3.5m, so we imagine there will be other opportunities to earn participating in the Gala ecosystem during May.
The team also released more information about Fuzzles, which are NFTs with an AI-driven entertainment engine, done in collaboration with Endless AI. The sale was set for April 27th with a starting price of 0.5 ETH.
Are Stranger Things NFTs coming?
There are some rumours about Stranger Things NFTs in collaboration between Netflix and Candy Digital. Stranger Things is one of the most watched shows on Netflix, with the 4th season coming out in May (1st part at least). Candy Digital is an NFT marketplace, launched last year by Michael Rubin, Novogratz and Gary V. They tend to specialise on sports collectibles and have an exclusive partnership with MLB.
The rumours started after a hidden clue in the Season 4 trailer. It appears that Season 4 will have various interactive experiences potentially utilising NFTs. More details on this story here.
Train of the Century
Train of the Century is an NFT trading card game for locomotive and railcar lovers. The team recently shared a recap of the mechanics in the V1 release and introduces two new types of packs. The Slack pack and the Max pack sales were held on April 30th, for $45 and $140 in WAX tokens, respectively. The team also shared the updated roadmap through Q3 of 2022 and spoke a bit about their newly released P2P marketplace.
The Bornless servers are now on AWS
We briefly covered Bornless in February, as they sold out their first NFT drop. Last week, the team announced that their servers are now running on AWS and that “web3 accounts are ready for testnet.”
They also shared some more screenshots of the game in the Discord. You can check them out in the game-dev-updates channel.
