Crypto Gaming Roundup #19
MetaPortal Gaming Index, $GAME, is designed to provide exposure to the emergent crypto gaming space. Investing across games, virtual worlds and gaming platforms. The index is a simple and effective way to express the view that crypto games will capture a greater share of the burgeoning gaming market.
Decentral Games GO
The main news for DG this week is that ICE Poker Go is ready for alpha testing. As part of this phase, selected community members already have their hands on the app and are testing for bugs. Next week the beta test sign-up will go live so keep and eye out if you’d like to get involved.
Elsewhere, as part of an attempt to improve transparency, the team published a report on token allocations and current vesting status. The full report has more than just vesting schedules however, and goes into detail around the ecosystem fund and treasury. It’s interesting that despite current market conditions, DG continues to generate revenue ($134,208.94 last week) meaning the treasury now holds more than $21.71m.
Axie Infinity builders
Sky Mavis unveiled the first projects that will be part of its builders program. The program allows community developers to create games using the Axie Infinity framework. One of the early examples is Mech Infinity. This is a Battle Royale game based in the Axie Infinity universe, where Axie holders acquire Axie Mechs and participate in epic battles with crypto rewards including SLP, AXS, or more NFTs.
Alongside these new games, a tool has been created to allow developers to verify ownership of Axies belonging to a specific player: AxieDAO Single Sign-On (SSO). This tool will allow any developers to verify a player’s Ronin address and subsequently the assets they own, important to ensure players can only play using assets belonging to them.
Illuvium land
After a bit of jostling on Twitter prior to the event about the auction mechanism, the Illuvium land sale completed successfully with all land plots sold out, raising a cool $72m in the process.
Vulcan Forged releases and updates
Good news came this week for Vulcan Verse fans with an Android device, as the team published the first version of Tower Defense, with the Android app download available in their Discord. A new build of Vulcan Assassin is also ready for - you guessed it - Android users.
Ember Sword migration
Ember Sword kicks off their Immutable X migration on the 8th June. Aimed at bringing high speed and zero transaction cost to players, the move is being incentivised by 20,000 IMX tokens, but it’s first come first served!
This month also sees a number of competitions based around the theme of Ember Sword’s world, with 20 plots of land up for grabs.
RavenQuest sells out
The first land sale for this fantasy MMORPG on Polygon sold out within 5 minutes, the second sale in just 4! RavenQuest touts itself as having a ‘luscious and highly detailed open world that has been developed over the past five years, players can engage in an immersive and ever-changing world filled with lore, puzzles and player autonomy.’ Clearly they seem to be doing something right to sell out so quickly.
WAM.app
If this is your first encounter with WAM.app, it’s a gaming platform on Binance Chain. In February 2021 the beta version of the app was launched, reaching over 2.5 million players in less than 2 months. Currently WAM.app is accessible on any device and can be downloaded from both Google and Apple App stores.
Last week they launched Streamr, which is a tool that allows influencers to live stream WAM tournaments. Featuring a live leaderboard and acting as a way to connect players, the team hopes streaming will introduce WAM games to a wider audience.
