Gotchiverse to launch by April
Aavegotchi has confirmed the launch date for the Gotchiverse as March 31st, 2022. Pixelcraft Studios, the team behind the game released a cinematic trailer recently to showcase what’s coming, and you can check it out below.
In a similarly exciting announcement, Gotchi lending goes live a few days before the full game, allowing NFT holders to lend out their Aavegotchis. By building the infrastructure 100% on-chain, the team are hoping to scale their userbase while keeping the passive income/play-and-earn elements as simple as possible.
Decentral Games launch ICE accessories
Moving to create another sink for the play-to-earn $ICE token, DG this week announced Ice Accessories, a type of purely cosmetic upgrade for players. The items are live on the DG marketplace and aim to tap in to the ‘skins’ market, as they currently have no function in any of the DG games, aside from looking cool. If all the items sell out it removes 24m $ICE from circulation, plus secondary sales have a 4.9% royalty that accrues to the DG treasury.
In a similar vein, the latest round of ICE wearables, the Spartan Drop, sold out in 5 minutes. This raised another $4.7M for the treasury and distributed a further 1,250 wearables to the community.
Thetan Arena launches Guild Accelerator Program
Thetan Arena is providing a grant pool of $500,000 in THG tokens for guild partners. The game currently boasts over 23 million players (self reported) which would make it the most popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) project on Binance Smart Chain.
The aim of the accelerator program is to encourage commitment from guilds to both the Thetan Arena game and the Thetanian community. At its heart, it works like a referral scheme where guilds get points for bringing in active players, the points then convert to rewards like cross-marketing, assigned support and of course, the grants themselves.
Riot Racers add rentals and breeding
Targeting a release in quarter 2, a complete play-to-earn ecosystem consisting of racing school, rentals and breeding will soon be available in Riot Racers. The newly opened Racing School added races that are free to enter, have a total of three racers, and all racers can win $RIOT tokens.
Chicken Derby Open Beta
If car racing isn’t your thing, don’t fear, Chicken Derby is here. The game runs on Polygon so is already cheap to play, but gas cost for entering races is currently being subsidised by the team.
BlockTrucks joins the Enjin ecosystem
Lastly on the theme of racing, BlockTrucks is a play-to-earn, off-road racing game on Enjin’s Jumpnet. It’s the first racing game in the Enjin ecosystem, allowing players to own and customise their trucks, earn the native $TRUCK tokens by racing, all while collecting NFT Cards that can be upgraded to provide better stats for the trucks.
Beyond that there is also the option to own the racing stadiums themselves. Ownership can provide passive income for owners, who get a cut from any races that take place in their venue.
Frenzy Pass by Vulcan Forged
First up, Frenzy is an SDK that allows anyone to build a game in the Vulcan Forged ecosystem. The Frenzy Pass focuses on changes to PYR/LAVA tokenomics, adopting an ‘arcade’ style pay-to-play structure. While users must pay $LAVA tokens to play, the upside is the top 50 players each day share 50% of the $LAVA spent that day between them. The remainder is burnt.
This change focuses on the non-PvP games for now, as the team wanted to bring P2E to all game types, and the battlers are already up and running with earning potential. Access to this new ability to earn $LAVA is placed behind a subscription, costing up to 10 $PYR (for infinite access). That said, Vulcan Forged have left over a small amount of $LAVA for players to get involved at zero cost.
Finally, four new features have been added to the Ecosystem: a revamp of the earnings dashboard, Allegiance page, Vulcanite level 0 levelling system, and the new lava hourly payout system.
