Quick Guide to the MetaPortal Discord
MetaPortal is evolving. For those of our readers who don’t follow us on Twitter, we have recently announced the launch of our Discord server. We are doing some Metaverse Index, MVI, giveaways too if you want to get in on that 👇
This post is meant to be a bit of a guide to our Discord server and some things we have in mind for our community.
First things first – to join our Discord, head over here. Once you landed, jump into the #start-here channel, read the rules and click the checkmark emoji. This will give you (almost) full access to the server. You can also pick your roles based on which area of the Metaverse is of most interest to you.
Various Discord bots enable this “react for role” functionality for those curious about how this works. Zira, Mee6 and carl bot are just some examples here.
The MetaPortal Discord has four main sections at the time of writing: Community, Get Involved, MetaPortal and a section for holders of MVI and soon the gaming index token. Let’s quickly run through these.
Community
The Community section is pretty self-explanatory. That’s where we hang out. That’s where we say gm. That’s where we talk about the Metaverse, drop memes and shill our bags. You will also find an alpha channel here. This is where we (DarkForestCapital and AG) drop some info on tokens we are looking at, our thesis and our views on the market. NFA and DYOR, though!
Getting Involved
Next up, the Getting Involved section. As the section header says, this is for everyone who wants to get involved 🙂 We imagine there being two primary ways to do that: bounties and grants. Bounties are more one-off tasks that we can use some help with. We haven’t fleshed out the grants program just yet, but we imagine funding grants that contribute to the mission of building the Open Metaverse and help us bring more people into crypto. Stay tuned for more on that.
While we are on the subject of getting involved, there are a couple of opportunities to jump in right now.
We are looking for someone to help us with content, research, podcasts and social media. This could be a part-time, paid role, and we can envision one or two people doing this.
For the next 3-4 weeks, as we push to launch our gaming index product, we will need some help on graphics, design and branding.
If you are interested in one of these opportunities, do jump into the Discord and say hi. We have some sort of specs for both and can move quickly here.
MetaPortal
Alright, moving on. The MetaPortal section of the Discord is where we can talk about all things MetaPortal. Have questions about MVI or our other products? Want to chat about the latest podcast? Disagree with one of our takes and want to talk about it? Have some ideas for us? This is the place for that.
Token Holders
And, finally, there is a channel for verified MVI holders. To get the “MVI holder” role and access this channel, head over to #verify and follow the collab.land bot’s instructions. Who knows, there might be some giveaways to verified holders in the future 👀 You will also notice the #game-holder channel, referring to the upcoming MetaPortal Gaming Index. This channel is public, for now, leading up to the launch. If you have ideas about which tokens should be in this index, do let us know!
If you have read this far, you deserve a leak. We have an activity bot running in the MetaPortal Discord. This bot simply tracks messages by users and gives out XP points. Why do we want this? Well, let’s say there might be some retroactive surprises for community members who have contributed the most to MetaPortal in future 🤫
